I looked after marketing strategy and planning at Dishoom. Opening 4 restaurants in Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Birmingham as well as 10 delivery kitchens and an online store in 5 years.
Recent highlights include:
Delivery – launched 10 delivery kitchens since July 2020, including 2 in new territories for Dishoom (Brighton & Cambridge). Beating Deliveroo estimated sales revenue each week and positioning Delivery as a valuable part of the core business.
eCommerce – pulled together the internal multidisciplinary marketing team with external agencies (digital marketing) to launch the Dishoom Store in November 2020. Contributed to more than doubling eCommerce sales between launch (Christmas 2020) and the end of March 2021.
Restaurants – used customer and market insights to retain and grow domestic trade in the face of an ever-changing external environment. Included launching Dishoom Birmingham and ‘new’ Covent Garden twice in 2020 (due to lock downs), filling the soft launches twice over.
Market research – commissioned research into perception of the brand’s cultural relevance amongst Gen Z to better understand the messaging, channels and tactics which will best engage this audience.
Data – led the procurement process for both a social wifi provider and CRM system, resulting in the addition of over 30k email addresses to the database in 2020 despite extensive restaurant closures. Customer journey mapping for each area of the business (delivery, restaurants, eCommerce), and overseeing updates to the Privacy Policy and GDPR compliance.
I continued to work for Dishoom on a contract basis for 4 months after I finished my in-house role. Leading projects including:
On-boarding and launching a new CRM system
Defining and overseeing delivery of the Q3 and Q4 eCommerce marketing strategy alongside a partner digital marketing agency
Defining and overseeing the Christmas marketing strategy & plan, resulting in double the number of Christmas menus pre-booked compared to 2019.
